Local rules and amendments

Cities and counties enforce Title 24 and may have properly adopted local amendments. Health-care, school, housing, fire-authority, energy-code, and utility requirements can add separate review layers.

Project verification checklist

• Confirm the project’s permit application date and applicable Title 24 edition.
• Review California amendments—not only the base NEC.
• Identify the enforcing agency for the occupancy: local building department, HCD, DSA, HCAI, SFM, or another authority.
• Check local ordinances, California Energy Code interfaces, utility service rules, and published errata/supplements.
