Start with

  • Can the equipment be de-energized and verified?
  • Shock boundaries and voltage exposure.
  • Arc-flash incident energy or category method used by the employer.
  • Equipment condition and task-specific hazards.

System

  • Arc-rated clothing, face/head protection, voltage-rated gloves with protectors, hearing protection, footwear, and insulated tools as required.

Inspection

  • Dates, test intervals, contamination, holes/cuts, storage, fit, and compatibility between components.

Avoid

  • Mixing components without checking the complete protection system.
  • Treating everyday workwear as arc-rated.
