Troubleshooting
Contactor pulls in but motor does not run
Check line power, poles, overloads, conductors, and motor condition in sequence.
A closed control circuit does not prove that all three power poles, overload paths, conductors, and motor windings are intact.
Likely causes
- Missing line power or open protective device.
- Burned/open contactor pole.
- Tripped or open overload.
- Open conductor or motor winding.
Safe tests
- De-energize and inspect poles, overloads, terminals, and continuity.
- Verify control and power drawings match field wiring.
- Use energized voltage tests only under an approved qualified-person procedure.
Expected evidence
- All line phases present; all closed poles have low resistance; overload contacts are reset/closed; motor circuit continuity is consistent.
Correct & verify
- Repair the proven open point, then verify acceleration, phase current balance, overload setting, and control stop functions.
