Control fuse repeatedly blows
Divide the control circuit and locate shorts, failed coils, and intermittent faults.
Divide the control circuit logically and locate the shorted branch, coil, conductor, or intermittent mechanical damage.
Before replacing
- Confirm fuse class/rating and circuit voltage.
- Inspect for pinched conductors, loose strands, moisture, and recently changed devices.
Isolation
- De-energize and split the circuit at documented branch points.
- Measure coil resistance and compare similar devices.
- Protect sensitive electronics before insulation testing.
Common causes
- Shorted coil or suppressor.
- Damaged field cable.
- Wrong control voltage.
- Intermittent short at a moving device.
Verification
- Restore branches one at a time, cycle every command, and record the corrected component and final fuse type.
